About

PLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED

The Zabludowicz Collection is pleased to announce its 2016 Open Days in Sarvisalo to celebrate the launch of three new projects, as well as making new and existing installations accessible to the public.

On Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 September 2016 we invite individuals and groups to book to visit the Collection's first purpose built exhibition space on the island, housing a single work by British artist Keith Tyson; two new site specific commissions by American artists Rachael Champion and Sam Falls, and several new installations of works from the Collection which are all to be unveiled to the public for the first time.

Since 2010 the Collection has been inviting international artists to the island to undertake residencies as an alternative way of supporting artists, giving them the time and space to think and create freely, without the immediate pressure of exhibition-making. A natural extension to this activity has been the addition of permanent works to the landscape, with new works commissioned to respond directly to the landscape and environment, resulting in bold works by Laura Buckley, Matthew Day Jackson, Oscar Tuazon, Richard Woods and Toby Ziegler, which have been stimulating both for discussions and production.

For the first time in 2016 we will be inaugurating a new building on the island, purpose-designed by Siren Arkkitehdit Oy to house artist Keith Tyson’s Large Field Array, 2006-7, a vast installation consisting of 300 wall and floor-based sculptural objects, not seen in nearly ten years and installed here for the first time in its entirety.
