About

Ranging from sculpture, apparel and writing to architecture, painting, typefaces and performance, Ryan Gander's practice involves a questioning of language and knowledge, reinventing an understanding of artwork creation. Gander is joined in conversation by Antonia Blocker (Senior Curator: Performance & Engagement) to talk about his recent projects, as well as his wider artistic career and commitment to education.

Ryan Gander is an artist living and working in Suffolk and London. He studied at Manchester Metropolitan University, the Rijksakademie van Beeldende in Amsterdam and the Jan van Eyck Akademie in Maastricht. The artist has been a Professor of Visual Art at the University of Huddersfield and holds an honorary Doctor of the Arts at the Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Suffolk. In 2017, he was awarded an OBE for services to contemporary arts. in 2019, he was awarded the Hodder Fellowship at Princeton University.
