Alban Hajdinaj

For the series Untitled, Portrait (2007), Hajdinaj has drawn 14 portraits on found KFC bags. In this work, Hajdinaj combines academic techniques with mass-made capitalist branding: mixing the traditional and personal skills of the author as a craftsman with the neutral design of a brand, combining the academic variations of the pastel portrait with the more Pop Art-inspired figure of Colonel Sanders and the KFC logo. With Untitled, Portrait, as with his videos and sculptures, Hajdinaj conducts an exploration of collage, kitsch and the clash between opposing cultural elements.
