We are delighted to partner with Independent Collectors to bring you the 13th installment in their AT HOME WITH IC series. Initiated during lockdown, each video work selected addresses the sadly ongoing theme of ‘crisis’. Visit their website to watch the visceral video work Needle and the Larynx (2016) by British artist Marianna Simnett.

Marianna’s works deep dive you into a fairy tale reality of mythic proportions. Her female protagonists open their bodies to the insertion of symbolic and hidden powers. Famous for her ability to viscerally disrupt the passive viewing experience and push the body to its limits, her work is even more urgent today than it was when I first encountered it over 6 years ago.” Elizabeth Neilson, Zabludowicz Collection, Director

Watch Needle and the Larynx here. Independent Collectors is the first of its kind digital platform bridging independent art collectors and art enthusiasts.

Revisit Simnett's solo exhibition at the Collection here. Missed the online performance celebrating the launch of Simnett's book? Catch up on the IGTV series.

Finally, Marianna Simnett's monumental Faint with Light is in the group show A FIRE IN MY BELLY at Berlin-based gallery Julia Stoschek Collection. Closes 12 December 2021.
