Vienna Trip
I was most excited about heading to Vienna with British Friends of the Art Museums of Israel (BFAMI). Austria, the land of Franz West whose sculpture I stumbled upon on my early morning walk

Amir Shariat hosted us at his home, he at last came out as an art dealer! Here he is settled in with his recent finds of older artists waiting to be more widely discovered. Vienna was an emotional trip, a bit of a roller coaster. Many of the group’s families were chased out or murdered by the Nazis. One of the big words was ‘restitution’ which was used and resonated around Vienna. Anke Adler-Slottke from Christie’s was responsible for many art works returning to their owners or relatives

I was excited to see R. H. Quaytman’s outstanding show 'An Evening, Chapter 32’ at Secession. This work is based on the painting ‘The Persian Women’ by Otto van Veen whereby woman pulled up their dresses at the village men returning defeated from battle, frightening and forcing them back to fight

The installation was outstanding

Back in London I popped into the RA, I was not so taken with Salvador Dalí and Marcel Duchamp being shown together. I wonder if the artists would have wanted this. I did love the detailing of Dalí’s work, sorry invigilators for sneaking a pic! sushhh…
