San Francisco

1 March 2019

I headed to San Francisco for the Serpentine trip

San Francisco
First stop, the home of Pamela Joyner where we were introduced to the most spectacular collection of African American artists. We were a great team headed by my wonderful ‘Lil Sis’ Yana Peel and Hans Ulrich Obrist. This was just the beginning
San Francisco
Then it was off to a home in Palo Alto where the host had video screens on his ceiling!
San Francisco
David Ireland House at 500 Capp Street was a lovely surprise, a special Mike Kelley show ‘Pushing and pulling, pulling and pushing’. A few edition photographs from the ‘Extracurricular Activity Projective Reconstruction’ series, which are also in the Zabludowicz collection, were on show
San Francisco
Also this wonderful light taken from the Homestead in MOCAD
San Francisco
We had a beautiful lunch at CCA Wattis Institute and afterwards artist Rosha Yaghmai gave us a presentation of her weird and wonderful installation ‘Miraclegrow’
San Francisco
The installation reflects a distorted bathroom using found materials to represent a spider, with intense and interesting piping details. Fingers, ears and many other weird and wonderful things could be found if you looked carefully
San Francisco
We visited Altman Siegel Gallery where the artist Zarouhie Abdalian gave us an interesting presentation of her work
San Francisco
She looks at objects and perspective in a very obscure way
San Francisco
Jessica Silverman was a bundle of fun! We received a wonderful presentation by Woody De Othello, Davina Semo and Matthew Angelo Harrison
San Francisco
The highlight of the day was going to visit the new and wonderful SFMOMA, and viewing the Fisher Family gift. It is spectacular through and through. We sadly only had time to see the ‘Approaching American Abstraction’ show, works from the Doris and Donald Fisher Collection
San Francisco
A relaxing moment was visiting the home of Carla Emil where we could lounge around and admire the perfect architect and art. This painting is by Francis Picabia
San Francisco
Then a quick visit to Pier 24 to admire some to the photography
San Francisco
A rest with Antonia Gross in front of the Bay Bridge and then on our way to LA!
