Frieze Week 2010 - It might be Thursday but we are at SUNDAY Fair!

14 October 2010

My day started at frieze listening to a talk by Simon Fujiwara? Realising I was in the wrong talk I quickly transferred myself to a talk given on Green Visual Arts by Boris Johnson and Nick Serota.

What a revelation Sunday fair was! Rebecca May Marston at Limoncello can be very proud herself! She managed to put together an incredibly interesting and thoughtful art fair, without walls, in the middle of London. Bravo. Team 176 were fully present ready for action selling from our philanthropic stand our gorgeous editions. We were very proud to be sponsoring such an ambitious young emerging art fair. This was a chance for the more explorative curator, writer or collector to discover and discuss new artists.

Ryan Gander created his Wacky Ryan Bar where all sorts of events were happening. I finally managed to acquire on of Ryan’s clever boxes which hide forever some specific personalized object of Ryan’s. This particular box is made out of brick!

I loved this insane light sculpture. After the fair, I dropped into see Boris Johnson to discuss with him and his amazing team about art in the Olympic Park. Watch this Space.....Then it was off to Hauser and Wirth’s opening but it was far too crowded to admire the new colossal spaces! At the same time many of my friends visited the Christian Marclay film at White Cube and they all told me it is a MUST SEE.

I was so happy to visit the lovely Laura K. Jones at her book launch and there was my article ‘A Day in the Life of an Art Collector’ (Inspired by my art diary) printed in black and white on page 204, looking most impressive. Here is Laura with her mother Jeanie.

Mus bought me a drink in the new glamorous Hix bar in Selfridges and we bumped into Mat Collishaw who was very happy with his show in the Haunch of Venison. I cannot wait to check it out. The evening finished with a lovely Cartier frieze dinner. Arnault was so charming not only is he a handsome older man but he has a delightful personality.I met for the first time Marina Abramovic - she is so beautiful in the most beautiful way....We sat with Julia Peyton-Jones and other collectors and it was the perfect relaxing way to end such another special day...
