Frieze opens

29 October 2015

We are off!! Frieze art fair has officially begun and we whizz round. As a whole it was interesting and at times, even challenging.

Frieze opens
John de Andrea puts Duane Hanson’s handy work to shame. Technically brilliant.

The Cocktail Party at Stephen Friedman by Tom Friedman was so much fun.

I even joined in with my friend Cindy.

Tiffany was in her element at Rob Tufnell as she had acquired a beautiful Aaron Angel for the Collection.

She also took a deep interest in the Francesca DiMattio at Pippy Houldsworth Gallery. The work was magnificent showing how her painting had become even more challenging.

Loved Andreas Angelidakis’ work at The Breeder. An architect turned artist investigating space and the languages of architecture, curating and the internet. He explained here that he was looking at what happens to all the old architectural relics in one thousand years and beyong. A romantic idea.

Lizzie discovered the Chinese artist Guan Xiao. A really good find for the Collection.

My total favourite was the Yngve Holen aeroplanes propped charmingly on top of desolate washing machines and in front of the clever Mark Flood digital prints.

Frieze projects had some great things going on. Two creepy little girls walking up and down the aisles with their hair entwined.

Then another project where Rachel Rose had created a scale version of Frieze which felt like a rather awesome nightclub inside. Maria Balshaw peeking in.

I bumped into Simon Franks and Robert Suss who had been given lovely 30 second portraits by artist Ken Kagami.

The next day we hit SUNDAY Art Fair and it was wonderful. Charmed by this Dora Budor.

SUNDAY is such a celebration of young talent and had a great buzz. Peter Fleissig captured my feelings on camera.

Back at Regents Park and onto Frieze Masters. I so loved meeting Betty Woodman at Salon 94 and discussing her work.

We then rounded off the week with a fabulous karaoke party at the Collection arranged by artist Lindsey Mendick. It went down a storm and gave the perfect excuse for a Saturday lie in and rest pre-FIAC.
